Wakey!Wakey! Dress Makey
To our friends at The Family Records, it’s finally happening!
Our fabulous designer-friend Bianca Coetzee from Zenovia has created the sexiest little black dress from the Wakey!Wakey! Almost Everything T-shirts that were posted to us from The Family. Here are some behind-the-scenes pics of genius Bianca getting her hands in there.
We freaking can’t wait to share the outcome with you. Believe me, that dress is something to drool over. And the men’s shirt is getting attention as we speak. Can we get a Team Jana!Martin! shout-out? Ooooh yes!

We love your work, Family Records! Always have. Always will.
On set with Rosi Golan & Casey Shea, shootin’ some videos for beautiful tracks, in an awesome little studio in Brooklyn.
Zenovia Goes Head-y
Our good friend, fashion designer Bianca Coetzee, recently hooked up with photographer Martin Venter for a shoot of a few of her items. In this saucy pic model Soné Venter is wearing one of Zenovia’s fabulous headbands. That’s a big thumbs up from us.
Bianca is also our official designer for our upcoming Wakey!Wakey! T-shirt fashion shoot, which should still take place this year. We’ve been busy with various projects, from Jana writing her second novel for publication & juggling all sorts of teaching, coordinating and writing jobs, while Martin has taken to shooting bands on the weekends. More of that later…
Glasses with a purpose
Not that I wear glasses, but if I did, this is where I would shop. Jet off to New York for a pair of glasses, while doing something to help another glass-wearer get a pair? Yes, please.
Absolutely love this space. Wood & class. This is me sold.
A VISIT TO @WARBYPARKER
Whilst in New York, beauty blogger Karla Powell and I popped into the Warby Parker showroom to pick up some awesome new frames! (I went with the classic tortoise shell frames). If you haven’t heard of Warby Parker, you’ve seriously been living under a rock! Warby parties with a purpose. For every pair of glasses sold, Warby donates a complimentary pair to someone in need. At only $95 a pop, it’s worth it!
“Prescription eyewear simply should not cost $300+. The industry is controlled by a few large companies that have kept prices artificially high, reaping huge profits from consumers who have no other options. By circumventing traditional channels and engaging with our customers directly through our website, Warby Parker is able to provide higher-quality, better looking prescription eyewear for under $100.”
Fashion can move or even unnerve
In preparation for our upcoming Wakey!Wakey! shoot, I went searching for some inspiration and found this.
See the tight black dress? It has my name on it.

- Plan Wakey! Wakey! tour to South Africa
…but don’t worry, seeing that you are too busy cleaning out your fridge, we added it on the list for you.
I was just at lunch with friends and realized that I leave for tour in 2 days. Leaving for almost 2 months.
Buy stuff I need
Check weather for 12 countries
Pay my bills
Work out one last time and freeze gym membership
Clean out my fridge
Unplug everything at my apt
Say goodbye to all my friends
Set out into the great wide yonder
Wish me luck and let me know if I’m forgetting anything!
Here I’m reading from my novel Vat ‘n gap (published by Tafelberg, May 2011) in my home in Rondebosch, Cape Town.
It’s in Afrikaans, but hopefully my first published novel will be available in English one day. And in many other languages, so I can make more than the zero cents I’ve made so far.
